1W Visit Bolton Mosque

1W had a lovely visit to a mosque in Bolton on Wednesday. We were greeted very warmly by everyone we met there and had a special tour round all the different areas. The children were very interested in learning about how Muslims worship and had lots of interesting questions to ask.

And, of course, they all behaved brilliantly and were a credit to our school.

World Book Day!

1W have had a lot of fun on this World Book Day. As well as dressing as their favourite character, the children took part in a whole school reading session. 1W read the book, Giraffes Can’t Dance and all the children played the part of one of the animals from the book – using masks and dancing around class.

1W’s Multicultural Week

1W have had a brilliant week and experienced lots of new things.

Our topic is Africa and our trip to an African food stall on Bolton Market was very interesting and very yummy!! We came back and dressed up in traditional African clothing, like Handa in our book.

In RE, we have been learning about the Muslim religion. The children have heard about how devout Muslims pray with their prayer mats facing Mecca and have dressed up in beautiful clothes.

Hollywood Comes to Rowan Tree!!

In true Hollywood style, we had a fantastic ‘after show party’ when our Christmas production finished this morning! How glamorous are we?!

There was cake, Vimto and Christmas crackers čÖé

The cracker jokes were as hilarious as usual – we had a vote and the favourite was as follows:

Where do you take a sick horse?

The horse-pital!

(I accept no responsibility for how funny this joke actually is!)

A Wonderful Trip for 1W!

1W have had a brilliant trip and they all enjoyed it immensely.

Each child had the chance to feed the hundreds of fish in Pets at Home and get a close up look at the very cute rabbits, degus and hamsters.

Then we went onto Bents where we saw lots of dinosaurs and thought about whether or not they would make good pets!!

We were very lucky after this and got to see Santa as we walked through the Christmas decorations…..each child got a badge from Santa and a reassurance that they’d be on the ‘good list’ as long as they were all good boys and girls running up to Christmas!

Lunch was eaten at the play area of Bents and then the children all got to sit on Santa’s sleigh.

The trip was rounded off with a visit to the Winter Food Market at Bents.

Using Our Imagination!

In 1W, we have a lovely new area that we call the ‘IMAGINATION STATION’. In here we have lots of dressing up clothes and accessories that we hope will fire the children’s imaginations and lead to some great role play!

They all look amazing don’t they?
